Democratic incumbent Zack Stephenson has won his re-election bid for the House District 36A seat, defeating Reputblican opponent Bill Maresh.
Stephenson thanked his family, volunteers and supporters in a statement posted on Facebook.
“While there are still votes left to be counted, I do expect that I have been re-elected to the Minnesota House. I am so grateful to the people of Coon Rapids and Champlin for their continuing trust and support in me. I will work everyday to be worthy of it. Thank you to my amazing volunteers and campaign team, led by the incredible Kathryn Schwartz-Eckhardt and Ramona Bias. But of course, my biggest thanks are to my family. My Mom and Dad, my kids, but most of all, my partner in all things and love of my life: Austin. How lucky I am to have you in my life.”
Maresh who was vying for the same seat, also showed gratitude to his campaign team through a post on Facebook.
“I want to thank everyone that contributed to my campaign. Those of you that donated financially, helped place signs, knocked on doors and most of all those who voted for me. I believe we worked hard and improved our campaign in many ways. We must keep praying for those who have been voted to represent our community and state to make decisions that are best for us as constituents.”
