City Of Golden Valley issued the following announcement on July 2.
The Winnetka Ave/10th Ave N area will see a lot of activity in the next two weeks as an Xcel Energy project will close 10th Ave N between Winnetka and Rhode Island Ave, and CenterPoint Energy’s Belt Line Project continues with significant work on Winnetka between 10th Ave N and Duluth St.
Beginning Monday July 6, Xcel Energy crews will close 10th Ave N between Winnetka and Rhode Island Ave for utility repairs at the Winnetka Ave/10th Ave intersection. Work is expected to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting. During the closure, traffic will be detoured around 10th Ave via Winnetka Ave, Golden Valley Rd, and Rhode Island Ave.
CenterPoint crews will be connecting natural gas mains to the natural gas vault at Plymouth and Winnetka Avenues and replacing the natural gas main north to Duluth Street.
Paving in the area began July 1 due to rain earlier in the week, and on July 6, traffic control will be shortened from 10th Ave N to Plymouth Ave. From July 6 to 7, milling is scheduled on Winnetka Ave from Duluth St to Medicine Lake Rd. On July 14, the crews will pave at Winnetka and Plymouth Avenues. Once cured, the road will be reopened to Duluth St.
During this work, the lane shift will continue on Winnetka Ave from 10th Ave to Duluth St. Through traffic and residential access will be maintained, and crossroads will remain open until crews need to excavate. During working hours, flagging crews will be on duty and traffic lights will be placed on flash. Traffic lights will be back in service after hours.
