Kristin Robbins, a Minnesota politician, posted a series of tweets criticizing Governor Tim Walz and announcing her candidacy for governor. Robbins accused Walz of ignoring federal law in relation to immigration policy and expressed support for a lawsuit by the U.S. Department of Justice.

On September 6, 2025, Robbins wrote: ".@Tim_Walz is ignoring federal law & prioritizing illegal immigrants over US citizens. Glad @TheJusticeDept is suing.

“MN’s policy..has helped create a de facto two-tiered society where illegal aliens are granted privileges that exceed those afforded to U.S. citizens.” https://t.co/lFBVBA9zX8"

Two days later, on September 8, 2025, she further criticized Governor Walz's fiscal management and announced her intention to run for governor: "Minnesota deserves better than Tim Walz’s failures. He wasted an $18B surplus, raised taxes by $10B and left a deficit behind. I’m running for Governor to restore common sense leadership that works for families.

Robbins also posted on September 7, 2025: "#RTB! https://t.co/VXeWRPEagL"

Minnesota has experienced significant debate over its immigration policies in recent years. Governor Tim Walz has been at the center of these debates due to policies perceived by some critics as favorable toward undocumented immigrants. Fiscal policy under his administration has also drawn attention following reports of an $18 billion budget surplus followed by increased taxation and subsequent deficit projections.
