CITY OF CHAMPLIN: Mississippi Crossings: December Meeting Schedule

Meetingschl

City Of Champlin issued the following announcement on Dec. 11.

Redevelopment planning for Mississippi Crossings has a storied history.  Since 1999, numerous concept plans have been introduced and modified responding to community desire and market interest. With the recent completion of Highway 169 improvements and public investments in the Mill Pond and surrounding areas, development in the heart of Mississippi Crossings is ripe for consideration.

In July, the City entered into a pre-development agreement with Greco to be “master developer” for 12-acres in Mississippi Crossings.  The City and Greco share a vision for this area that includes a significant residential component as well as an activation of the riverfront in the Mississippi Pointe Park area with a mix of uses.

Greco is a leading Twin Cities developer reshaping urban landscapes.  They create innovative housing and mixed-use developments that bring alternative design, architectural detail and environmental planning to an array of markets.  Most recently Greco opened a 211-unit market rate apartment, Loden – SV, in Shoreview.  Initially Greco plans to develop a four-story 214-unit market rate housing development on 4.2-acres generally located north of T.H. 169 and south of East River Parkway.  Subsequently, Greco would make improvements supporting a riverfront restaurant/event center/hotel and public park improvements including a pavilion and small riverfront amphitheater.

On December 23, 2019 at 3 p.m. the City Council will consider plans for the first phase of the master plan, which includes the apartment project. Meetings are held in the Council Chamber at City Hall. It is anticipated that the remaining phases of the development will be considered in early 2020.
