Kristin Robbins, a Minnesota politician and current member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, announced her candidacy for Governor in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) on August 21 and 22, 2025. In her initial post, Robbins highlighted the launch of her campaign in her home district: "What better way to kick off my race for Governor than right here in my home district with friends, neighbors, and ice cream! Now it’s time to take this energy across Minnesota and bring back common-sense leadership so the state works FOR Minnesotans, not against them." (August 21, 2025).
Later that day, Robbins referenced increased fundraising efforts by incumbent Governor Tim Walz following her announcement. She wrote: ".@Tim_Walz has stepped up his fundraising since my announcement. I am the only candidate who can beat him and he knows it. If you are fed up, join us!" (August 21, 2025).
On August 22, Robbins posted about attending an event hosted by the Minnesota Farmers Union. She stated: "I was there, too, @MNFarmersUnion! Loved the new Banana S’More and the Maple Nitro!" (August 22, 2025).
Robbins' gubernatorial bid comes as she seeks to challenge Democratic incumbent Tim Walz in the upcoming election. As a member of the Minnesota House representing District 34A since 2019, Robbins has focused on issues such as education funding and tax reform.
The Minnesota gubernatorial election is scheduled for November 2026. The contest is expected to draw significant attention as Republicans aim to reclaim statewide office after several cycles under Democratic control.
