How did Brooklyn Center School District students do on 2021-22 MCA and MTAS Reading tests?

Brooklyn Center School District ranked 13th in the Hennepin County for test participation, with 878 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Brooklyn Center School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 2% over the previous year.

Brooklyn Center School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 17% in 2021-22 school year.

10th-grade students stood out with 9% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, third grade students had the most room for improvement, with 84% not meeting the expected standards.

Brooklyn Center School District encompasses schools within Hennepin County and has a main office in Brooklyn Center.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
