Time Capsule Items Needed For Anniversary

Brooklyn Park, Nov. 7, 2022 – Hennepin Technical College is asking for help with an activity to celebrate the college’s 50th Anniversary. Students, faculty, staff, and alumni are asked to suggest items for a Time Capsule that is being created in recognition of the milestone. Throughout the academic year, the college is hosting events and activities to celebrate its 50th.

The Time Capsule will illustrate the college and its programs, students, staff and faculty. Items selected for the time capsule will be displayed on April 27, 2023 at a ceremony on the Brooklyn Park campus.

Typically, a time capsule contains items to show what life was like when the capsule was created. For Hennepin Tech, a time capsule item might be a class projects, a Hennepin Tech t-shirt, or a tool used in one of the technical class labs.

In addition to student learning experiences, the time capsule will contain items that capture the everyday work of the college; a list of the most popular items sold at the bookstore or the annual report might be good options.

Hennepin Tech is challenging the campus community to think of creative items that represent their lives in 2022-23.

The time capsule will be a small box that is being crafted by students in the Cabinetmaking program. Everyone is urged to suggest small items to contribute -- something the size of a cell phone or a laptop, for instance. The box will be stored on the Eden Prairie campus until it is opened at the next milestone anniversary such as Hennepin Tech’s 75th or 100th celebration.

If you have an item that you would like to suggest to include in the time capsule, please contact Susan Markes. (Susan.markes@hennepintech.edu)
