In Brooklyn Park, police respond to an average of nearly 2,000 domestic violence-related calls a year. Cornerstone, an organization that works to reduce the prevalence of domestic violence, has staff within the Brooklyn Park Police Department so they can quickly respond to and help victims of domestic assault.
Residents are encouraged to stop by City Hall and the Community Activity Center to pick up a free purple light bulb! This effort encourages everyone in the city to replace their outdoor lights with purple light bulbs to raise awareness.
