7 BC Students Chosen For Internships Through Genesys Works

Through a partnership with Genesys Works, students entering their senior year of high school spend the summer training with coaches to learn valuable professional skills for the corporate world. Skills include fluency in office programs like Microsoft Excel and Outlook, resume and portfolio building, planning and organization, problem solving, and networking and communication skills. Genesys Works program coordinators establish cohorts of students who complete projects and presentations each week to demonstrate what they’ve learned. Perhaps the biggest payoff, however, comes from the opportunity to score a paid internship during one’s senior year with a major corporation.

This year, 7 Brooklyn Center High School STEAM students have been selected for internships.

The 2022-2023 interns are Amelia Ramrup, Chriony Bagana, Sabine Gomez, Isaac Vue, Josue Flores Sanchez, Somchay Yang and Miguel Trochez Rodriguez.

"I am so proud of our 7 BC seniors who completed the Genesys Works summer training program," said Jackie Hayden, college and career coordinator. "They committed to an 8-week summer training for 20 hours each week learning about IT skills and professionalism. Their hard work has paid off and now they have been 'drafted' to a corporation for a year-long internship resulting in over $15,000 in earnings each. Shoutout to Chriony who completed his training while in Africa - logging onto his computer in the evenings to adjust for the time difference. The average college graduate who has participated in the Genesys Works program earns about $10,000 more in earnings each year than the average college graduate who never participated. If you are a junior interested in applying for this program, applications go live in the spring."
