June is Pride month, and BCCS celebrates and honors all of our LGBTQ+ staff, students, and community. It is essential that we center their voices, see them, and affirm them.
Here is an article about the history of Pride, and here is a page from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) that compiles various resources for educators, students, and families, from general educational resources and history to information about LGBTQ+ rights and how to create safe learning environments. Now more than ever, it is imperative that at BCCS we stand front and center for all of our students – that we protect their right to an education in a space where they can show up as themselves each day.
To our LGBTQ+ community: Know that you are loved. You belong.
What does this month mean to you? What do you want people to know? How are you celebrating and how would you like to be celebrated? Let us know by emailing communications@bccs286.org and we may feature your story on social media.
