May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. This month is a time to celebrate the unique histories, traditions, cultures, contributions and futures of Asian people and Pacific Islanders. It is important to acknowledge the wide array of backgrounds and ethnicities that the terms “Asian” and “Pacific Islander” refer to, honoring each and standing against the hate and violence that we see continuing to grow today.
This month, we want to invite our Asian and Pacific Islander students, staff, and families to share more about themselves and their backgrounds. To our AAPI community, what does this month mean to you? What would you like people to know about your heritage? How will you celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month? How would you like to be celebrated by others? Let us know on social media or by emailing communications@bccs286.org and we will share with our BC community.
Brooklyn Center Middle and High School STEAM families are also invited to join us for Family STEAM Night on Thursday, May 19 from 5-7 p.m., during which we will host activities in honor of AAPI Month.
