Brooklyn Center Early College Academy issued the following announcement.
An initiative of Urban Ventures, Act Six is a leadership development and college scholarship program that brings together diverse, multicultural cadres of emerging urban leaders who want to use their college education to make a difference on campus and in their communities at home. Each scholarship is valued up to $205,000 at six partner colleges including Augsburg University, Concordia College - Moorhead, Bethany Lutheran College, North Central University, Bethel University, and the University of Northwestern in St. Paul.
“This is the largest group to make it this far in Brooklyn Center history,” Jackie Hayden, Career and College Readiness and BARR coordinator for Brooklyn Center High School STEAM, said. “Of the 2021 graduating class, 13 percent of our students are in the running for this scholarship. I am so proud of them!”
The candidates are:
Tristin Khang

Next step in the process? Each student will develop a three-minute video outlining what inspires them to create change in their college communities. The catch? They only have one week to finalize their unedited videos.
If moved on to the third phase, students will participate in a virtual campus event with multiple evaluation activities. Final decisions will be announced on March 10.
