Brooklyn Center Early College Academy issued the following announcement.
On Wednesday, December 16, Governor Walz announced plans to prioritize in-person learning for early learning and elementary students. School districts throughout Minnesota
were also given updated protocols for how to safely bring students back to school in a hybrid or in-person learning model.
“At this time, we are still evaluating the guidance and figuring out what this means for Brooklyn Center,” said Superintendent Dr. Carly Baker. “We were prepared to announce our
decision to continue with distance learning across our system through the end of the first semester. We will now reevaluate those plans in accordance with today’s guidance from
the Governor.
As we move forward with planning, we will prioritize the following goals:
Continue the relationships that have been established with students, families, and teachers
Ensure staff can provide a healthy and stable learning environment to students
Continue to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all employees
Governor Walz and the Minnesota Department of Education also announced changes to youth and high school athletics. Athletics and activities practices are scheduled to begin
on Tuesday, January 4. More information to follow as plans are finalized.
