The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) encourages Minnesotans to purchase and consume locally over the holidays as Minnesota plans for phase two of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials said by doing sales locally, citizens can help their beloved local eateries and other businesses by ordering takeout and curbside.

Eating locally is an easy way to support necessary businesses while having a savory meal at home. This will help businesses overcome the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic.

“The best way to help your local restaurants weather this time is by ordering takeout whenever you can,” said DEED Commissioner Steve Grove in a press release. “They need our support now more than ever.”

Explore Minnesota Director John Edman said supporting Minnesota's hospitality businesses is important during this time.

“Order takeout from local restaurants, curbside cocktail kits and growlers galore. Give the gift of Minnesota and support local shops statewide," Edman said.
