City Of Edina issued the following announcement on April 30.
A controlled burn of the native rain garden at the Public Works & Park Maintenance Facility, 7450 Metro. Blvd., is planned for Friday, May 1.
A controlled burn is a fire set intentionally for the purposes of managing native plants. Fire is a natural part of grassland ecology and an efficient tool for promoting a healthy native plant garden.
The City has contracted with Minnesota Native Landscapes to conduct the burn. It is expected to be complete the same day.
The burn is dependent on wind directions and weather conditions. If conditions become unfavorable for a burn, it will be rescheduled.
