State Rep. Joe McDonald give a legislative update as the 2020 session begins.
He said he came into the House floor session with mixed emotions as the House paid tribute to fallen guardsmen Warrant Officer Candidate Kort M. Plantenberg, Chief Warrant Officer 2 James A. Rogers Jr. and Chief Warrant Officer 2 Charles P. Nord.
McDonald also said the State of Minnesota is in good shape with an account surplus of $1.3 billion. Applauding the efficient collection of taxes, he said that the state government takes each and every tax penny very seriously and will spend them on the greater good of the masses with due diligence.
McDonald said that the alteration of section 179 of tax code relieves the state farmers and small businesses of the taxes they were hit with in the previous year, owing to loopholes in the state’s tax code.
