City of Champlin issued the following announcement on Oct. 16.
The City of Champlin Utility Department will be performing fall water main flushing from various hydrants throughout the City. Flushing operations will occur on Monday, October 21. During flushing rusty water could be drawn into your house and stain your clothes. Please try to avoid doing laundry between 7:00 AM and 2:30 PM. If you experience problems with rusty water during flushing or any time throughout the year, turn off all water faucets for at least 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, go to the lowest level of your home and run the cold water full force for 3-5 minutes. When the water runs clear turn on other cold water faucets and run until water is clear. If the hot water is rusty, you may need to drain the water from your hot water tank, and then clear other hot water faucets. If the water is still rusty after trying these methods, contact the Utility Department at 763-923-7190.
