Historically, the Hmong New Year celebration was created to honor and give thanks to ancestors and spirits for the completion of a harvest. It was also to welcome a new beginning.

Today, the Hmong New year celebration is a cultural tradition celebrated annually. During the New Year’s celebration, the community dresses in traditional clothing, enjoying traditional Hmong foods, dance, music, and other forms of entertainment.
