Happy Hanukkah!

Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish celebration that will begin on the evening of December 18 and end on the evening of December 26. Hanukkah, the Hebrew word for “dedication,” commemorates the

rededication during the second century B.C. of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.

Also known as the Festival of Lights, Hanukkah is celebrated with the lighting of the hanukkiah (Hanukkah menorah), traditional foods, games and gifts.

Some common foods eaten during this joyous holiday are jelly-filled doughnuts (sufganiyot) and potato pancakes (latkes).
