What groups, activities, or sports have you been involved in throughout your high school career?
I was a part of the Girl’s soccer team, Step 21, Trio Upward Bound, Centaur Council, Cooking Club, African Drum Team, and BC Timber Bay.
What is your favorite memory of high school?
My favorite memory of high school is the girl’s soccer games. My team and coaches were very supportive, and I had a lot of fun every time we played. My coaches were always there to listen when I had problems, even personal problems.
Is there a staff member who has gone beyond for you? If so, who? How have they gone beyond?
Mrs. Hayden has gone beyond for me. She has always had my back from my freshman year of high school to my senior year. Mrs. Hayden has always encouraged me to share my story and embrace who I am no matter what. She has always been there to help me make plans that will help me succeed in school and beyond. From writing letters of recommendation to having Zoom meetings. She has always been there to support me.
Brooklyn Center Community Schools stands front and center for Collaboration, Inclusivity and Unity. What do you stand front and center for?
I stand front and center for the empowerment of others, no matter who they are. I believe everyone should embrace themselves and their experiences because each experience comes with a unique story. We should not change for anyone because we all deserve a seat at the table.
What does it mean to you to be a Centaur?
Being a Centaur means helping and supporting others to reach their goals. Words can heal or break a person, so using my words to encourage others is one of my identities as a Centaur. I believe success is not for one person but is measured by how many lives I can make a positive impact on, and that’s what being a Centaur means to me.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I plan to attend a four-year university majoring in Biology on a pre-med track. I also plan to attend medical school after my first four years of college. By the grace of God, I will open my health care facility in Liberia. I plan to provide quality health care for everyone, especially those who cannot afford health care.
What advice would you give someone just starting high school?
Be yourself, don’t change who you are to fit in. Keep your eyes on your dreams and surround yourself with people that will help you succeed.
