Brooklyn Park, June 15, 2022 – Centerpoint Energy is providing Hennepin Technical College (Hennepin Tech) with a grant for new equipment that will enhance student learning labs in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Cooling (HVAC) program.

Hennepin Tech is already home to the largest HVAC program in Minnesota and among the largest in the U.S. The new grant will allow the college to provide even more options for students. The grant will provide equipment for a new lab space at the residential HVAC program at the Brooklyn Park campus. In addition, the funds will upgrade equipment for student learning at the Eden Prairie campus and develop a new curriculum on automated energy management systems for commercial buildings.

CenterPoint Energy, Minnesota’s largest natural gas utility, awarded grants to eight organizations to expand training opportunities to help develop a diverse workforce to support energy efficiency in the state. The company awarded $2.5 million in grants through a competitive application process.
