The man coordinating the work of the Minnesota Census Mobilization Partnership was among several speakers encouraging people to “be counted” in the United States Census 2020 during a press conference held on Aug. 31 in Minneapolis.

Xiongpao “Xp” Lee, program manager for policy and special projects for the Minnesota Council on Foundations, said during the press conference that he is passionate about having every Minnesotan be counted in the Census 2020 by the Wednesday, Sept. 30 deadline, according to a video of the event on the Hennepin County Facebook page.

“To complete your 2020 census is one of the most important and empowering acts of civic participation that you can do this year – whether you are a citizen or not,” Lee said in the video.

Undercounting of the census could result in the loss of a congressional seat, according to a press release. An undercount could also result in a reduction in the $15.5 billion in federal money Minnesota receives yearly, the press release stated.

People may complete the census by visiting my2020census.gov, texting questions to 662020 or calling 1-844-330-2020, said according to the press release.
